The Montreal Impact Foundation and the city of Longueuil inaugurate a new mini-field in Longueuil

LONGUEUIL – The Montreal Impact Foundation and the City of Longueuil officially inaugurated a new multisport mini-field in Longueuil on Oct. 6, in the presence of CF Montréal first-team players and local youth gathered for the occasion under the guidance of coaches from the Club’s Soccer Schools. Also in attendance were Lyette Bouchard, a member of the City of Longueuil Executive Committee responsible for culture, sports and community development, and Carl Lévesque, City Councillor for the Coteau-Rouge district.

To mark the inauguration, a group of youth from the Longueuil community took part in a soccer clinic led by CF Montréal Soccer Schools coaches before joining first-team players for a series of small-sided matches.

“With the inauguration of this new mini field in Longueuil, the Foundation is taking another step forward in its commitment to communities across Quebec,” said Carmie Saputo, President of the Montreal Impact Foundation. “Access to quality sports facilities plays a key role in youth development. We are persuaded that this field will become a dynamic and inclusive gathering place for young people in Longueuil.”

“We are proud to see the revitalization of the Lecavalier area come to life through a project that brings the neighbourhood together. This new multisport facility will give children and teenagers a welcoming place to get active, spend time together and build connections. To enhance the project, the City of Longueuil has added a trail, a small plaza and sustainable landscaping along the edge of the facility, complemented by a new BIXI station. Through this collaboration with the Montreal Impact Foundation, we are building a living environment that will benefit the entire community,” said Longueuil Mayor Catherine Fournier.

This initiative aims to encourage physical activity among youth living in communities where access to quality sports infrastructure is limited or unavailable, while also fostering social inclusion and a stronger sense of belonging.

The Montreal Impact Foundation oversaw the construction and installation of the project, while the City of Longueuil completed the concrete foundation required for its implementation. Measuring 36 metres by 18 metres, the playing area is enclosed by a modular galvanized steel structure to ensure safety and long-term durability. The facility also includes two certified goals with secure anchoring systems, benches and integrated lighting.

This marks the fifth multisport installation completed as part of the second phase of the Montreal Impact Foundation’s project. Longueuil joins Les Coteaux (Montérégie), Val-des-Bois (Outaouais), Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts (Laurentides) and Cowansville (Estrie) among the communities now benefiting from this initiative.

The project will continue in spring 2027 with the inauguration of a new mini-field in Lotbinière, bringing the Foundation closer to its goal of completing 15 installations province-wide by 2028.
